The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is looking for a Maintenance Worker II for the Wastewater Division. The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.
* Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment and chemicals.
* Maintain and repair underground wastewater service lines, cleaning work areas, perform related maintenance duties.
* Transports materials and personnel to work sites.
* Climbs stairs and ladders; bends, stoops, pushes, pulls, lifts and carries up to 75 lbs.; may stand for more than six hours.
* Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials and work tasks.
* Requires ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines.Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.
One year as a Maintenance Worker.
The preferred candidate will possess one year experience of maintenance repair.
Valid driver's license required
Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Work Locations: 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia
This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
This is an'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
