Job summary

General Description

This position performs general repair and maintenance of assigned City parks and grounds. Works under general supervision, with some tasks potentially self-directed based on procedures and processes.

This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions apply.

Per Florida Statute 295.065, certain servicemembers, veterans, and their families receive preference and priority in employment, and some may be eligible for educational waivers. Applicants are encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties
  • Maintains and repairs assigned areas, including groundskeeping, cleaning, and minor construction tasks.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, responds to work orders, and documents work completed.
  • May assist or perform skilled tasks such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, masonry, paving, welding, depending on area.
  • Operates vehicles, heavy equipment, and small tools as needed.
  • Supports cleanup after weather events, custodial duties, setup for events, and traffic management.
  • Transports materials, maintains safety standards, and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Records data, reports, and may perform clerical duties.
  • Attends training and may be on-call after probation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience or equivalent training/education.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License; may require Class B CDL.
  • Certifications: Maintenance of Traffic, FEMA IS100 and IS700 within six months.

Higher education and experience may be considered in lieu of specific qualifications.

Physical & Environmental Conditions

Includes frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional up to 80 pounds, walking, standing, climbing, and exposure to outdoor elements and hazards.

Work involves outdoor environmental conditions, potential hazards, and the use of PPE.
