Job summary

City of Cocoa Beach is seeking a groundskeeper to maintain the golf course grounds, including mowing tees, fairways, rough, greens, lake banks, and sand traps. You will operate light tractors and mowing equipment, assist in course setup, and keep the course area clean and safe around the clubhouse and pro shop.

Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and requires 1–2 years in landscape maintenance, preferably on a golf course; high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and 1–2 years of landscape maintenance experience, preferably on a golf course.
• Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operates light tractors, mowing equipment, and string trimmers to mow tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens.
• Performs watering, raking sand traps, aerating greens, edging cart paths and sand traps, and sod replacement in bare spots.
• Assists in setting up the course by changing pin and tee placements and maintaining towels and ball washers.
• Polices grounds around clubhouse and pro shop, picking up debris as needed.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOBUnder direct supervision, performs unskilled to semi-skilled work maintaining grounds at the City Golf Course. Work involves mowing and maintaining golf course tees, fairways, rough, lake banks, greens, and sand traps, and equipment used. Utilizes all equipment and tools necessary to maintain golf course. Employee is also responsible for assisting in course set up and policing grounds for debris, as necessary. Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSOperates light tractors, specialized mowing equipment and string trimmers; mows tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens.Performs various grounds maintenance duties including watering greens, raking sand traps, aerating greens, edging cart paths and sand traps, etc.; plants sod in bare spots on golf course, as instructed; prunes trees.Assists in setting up course by changing pin and tee placements; replaces tee towels; maintains golf ball washers.Polices golf course and grounds around clubhouse and pro shop, picking up papers, cans, bottles and other debris, as necessary.ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms other related work as required.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEGraduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in landscape maintenance work, preferably on a golf course; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
