Isle of Wight County seeks a Maintenance Assistant to support building upkeep, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general repairs across county facilities. The role includes preventative maintenance, replacing lighting and fixtures, and assisting in event setup.
Candidates should have basic carpentry/plumbing skills and a high school diploma. Work may require overtime or weekend hours for events, with emphasis on safety and adherence to county policies.
This position is responsible for assisting other maintenance positions in the maintenance of the County's buildings, structures, fixtures, and equipment through projects involving carpentry work, painting, plumbing, and other construction, maintenance, and repair.
Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
