Maintenance Worker I – Preventative Maintenance
This is a skilled maintenance and repair work position in the building, mechanical or electrical trades.
This employee works in a variety of trades at the sub-journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of Authority buildings and equipment. Work involves repair jobs of a routine nature which are carried out with only general supervision.
NORMAL WORK DAY/HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Primary Job Functions
Implements the general maintenance of, and repairs to, assigned properties and equipment, including but not limited to painting and pressure washing.
Responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance schedule.
Responsible for scanning inventory items into inventory system.
Change air conditioning filter’s monthly/quarterly.
Change smoke alarm batteries every 6 months.
Assist in moving furniture for office or home moves, when needed.
Assist in delivery of supplies and putting furniture together, as needed.
General housekeeping duties.
Assist with van/vehicle service requests, when needed.
Maintains maintenance records and service reports.
Responsible for own time management, travel, planning, and record keeping.
Emergency services and special projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years’ experience in general maintenance. Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of building materials, supplies, and vendors of same.
Knowledge of electrical and plumbing codes.
Ability to paint and do minor carpentry work.
Basic computer, tablet and cell phone knowledge is required.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with other staff and agencies.
Ability to communicate clearly, orally, and in writing.
