Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing social services for over 125 years, offering 160+ programs for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those with mental illness. Our Older Adult Centers promote active lifestyles for seniors through activities like meals, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, exercise classes, discussion groups, art classes, lectures, outings, and events.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

  • Maintain the center in a clean and sanitary condition, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Sweep, mop, wax, and vacuum floors and stairways.
  • Wash and dust windows, walls, and mirrors.
  • Scrub handrails, baseboards, and stair landings.
  • Empty wastebaskets and garbage cans daily.
  • Remove and clean window treatments; dust all areas as directed.
  • Clean and polish furniture and metalwork.
  • Dust light fixtures; replace bulbs and fuses.
  • Ensure bathrooms are cleaned daily and stocked with supplies.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs, including painting and plumbing, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class D) preferred, with 3 years of driving experience, no more than one moving violation in the past 24 months, and no DWI convictions.
  • At least one year of maintenance experience required.
  • Pass the Fire Drill Conductor test within 6 months of employment.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently.
