Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System is seeking a Facilities Maintenance worker to repair and maintain MLHS facilities, equipment, and grounds. The role covers mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry tasks with on-call rotation.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, a boiler license within 90 days (progression to 1-C boiler), and at least 2 years in maintenance (healthcare preferred). A Minnesota driver’s license and strong teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in repairing and maintaining MLHS facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Complete monthly HVAC maintenance checklists and report repairs to Supervisor/Manager.
  • Maintain boiler logs daily and complete boiler tests as required by policy.
  • Perform on-call duties as scheduled; work rotating evenings/weekends.
  • Operate and document work in the CMMS; communicate completion issues.
  • Maintain safety: follow lockout/tag-out, PPE usage, notify hazards.
  • Communicate hazards or repairs to supervisors and collaborate with teams.

Job description

Summary

Assists in repairing and maintaining MLHS facilities, equipment, and grounds. Performs mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry work as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.

Mechanical/Electrical:
  • Completes monthly preventative maintenance list on HVAC system. Communicates any repairs to Supervisor or Manager.*
  • Checks pumps, motors and electrical equipment daily.
  • Boiler log sheet is completed daily and signed off on per State codes. *
  • Completes monthly/quarterly required tests on boiler, reports any abnormal condition to Supervisor or Manager.*
  • Completes required training as determined by Supervisor or Manager on our Siemens computer control heating/air conditioning system.*
  • Knowledge of function of fire alarm system, sprinkler system, nurse call system, oxygen alarms, clinic alarms.*
  • Works on call hours as scheduled per Supervisor or Manager on rotating basis.*
  • Completes computerized maintenance management system tickets a timely basis (daily) reporting completion issues to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Works independently with little or no supervision. Manages time on assigned projects.
  • Knowledge of Plumbing, Carpentry and Electrical.*
  • Change gaskets on stools and faucets.
  • Ability to solder pipes and other repairs.
  • Install shelving, desks, television brackets and/or cabinets.
  • Cleans equipment on schedule.
Safety:
  • Understands and follows lockout/tag-out procedures. *
  • Adheres confined space policy. *
  • Understands procedures and responsibilities on drills and all codes under disaster policy and procedure. *
  • Wears PPE when needed for job. *
  • Reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor or Manager.
Communication:
  • Effective written and verbal communication. *
  • Ability to interact positively with co-workers in department and interdepartmentally. *
  • Positive interaction with patients, residents and visitors. *
  • Reports hazards or need for repairs to Supervisor or Manager. *

Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Position normally Monday-Friday with regular on-call rotation for evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibility

Position monitors maintenance workers as assigned by Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Manager.
