Job Summary:

Performs tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, Navy Lodge guest rooms, etc. Typical assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities:
  • Receives assignments orally or in the form of work orders.
  • Responsible for selecting the proper tools, methods, and techniques to complete assignments.
  • Performs minor carpentry tasks such as repairing doors, windows, furniture, cabinets, etc.
  • Inspects and ensures proper working condition of equipment and facilities through regular walk-throughs.
  • Prepares surfaces and paints interior items following directions.
  • Assists in installation and repair of pipes, faucets, drains, etc.
  • Performs electrical repairs on appliances and fixtures.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment such as fans, air conditioners, and appliances.
  • Maintains compliance with safety regulations and reports hazards.
  • Performs inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Responds to customer questions regarding appliances and fixtures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Physical effort includes standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring positions. Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds.

    Working conditions involve inside and outside work, exposure to dust, fumes, cuts, and bruises.

    Qualifications:
    • One year of experience in general maintenance practices involving upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, or equipment.
    • High school education may substitute for experience at a rate of 3 months per year.
    • One year of specific maintenance work such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

    Physical requirements include standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
