Job summary

Clinch Valley Health is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform general maintenance, repairs, and systems upkeep in a 175-bed hospital setting. You will support electrical, HVAC, and building operations while helping maintain a safe, compliant environment for patients and staff.

The role emphasizes teamwork, policy adherence, and cooperative scheduling to ensure reliable facility operations and safety across the campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior maintenance/facilities experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Basic computer skills and effective verbal/written communication.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission and regulatory policies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and repair duties; maintain structures, HVAC, electrical, and grounds.
• Adhere to quality standards and procedures for maintenance and repair work.
• Coordinate with departments; plan schedules and request materials as needed.
• Support energy management and regulatory compliance efforts.
• Assist with fire and safety measures and inspections in coordination with Safety.

How you’ll contribute

A Maintenance Worker who excels in this role:

• Performs general maintenance and repair duties as directed. Assists in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, and grounds of the building.
• Participates in the applications of standards of quality and productivity for the facility. Follows policies, procedures and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems.
• Collaborates with other departments and administration. Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, completes job assignments, and requests orders of needed materials, supplies and parts.
• Assists in ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements in regard to the energy management program.
• Assists with coordination of all fire and safety measures throughout the hospital, including fire and safety inspections and procedures in conjunction with Safety and Security Departments when requested.

What we’re looking for:

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience in maintenance/facilities, preferably in a healthcare setting, is preferred.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policy and procedures is preferred.
• Must possess basic computer skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
