Job summary

SCO Family of Service is seeking a dedicated building custodian for our East Elmhurst, NY location. The role involves maintaining school facilities, cleaning floors, windows and restrooms, and ensuring a safe, orderly environment for students and staff.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and the ability to read and write English. You will work on-site, handle snow removal, setup for events, and support a culture of positive behavior throughout the school day and after-hours

Responsibilities

• Maintain physical building and property grounds.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
• Strip, seal and polish floors.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Wash all windows both inside and outside twice yearly.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Steam clean or shampoo all carpeting.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
• Scrub and disinfect bathrooms, urinals, toilet bowls and other fixtures daily.
• Fill all paper dispensers, soap dispensers; report damages.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas.
• Set up, arrange and remove decorations, tables, chairs for events.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for building maintenance.
• Be on duty in the building when events are scheduled outside regular hours.
• Promote and support positive behavior; be a role model.
• Attend in-service training, staff meetings and seminars as needed.
• Perform all other assigned duties.
