Thornton Fractional High School District 215 is seeking a maintenance worker to keep facilities safe, clean, and well-maintained in alignment with the district's mission. The role involves HVAC and basic mechanical maintenance, minor construction, and routine grounds work, reporting to the Building Foreman.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and a valid IL/IN driver's license. The position requires flexibility across shifts and team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Physically and technically able to perform the essential functions of the position, including boiler maintenance and operations and electrical distribution system maintenance and operations.
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system maintenance and operations.
  • Mechanical equipment maintenance and operations.
  • Small appliance repair.
  • Basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and outside work.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and explain basic operating instructions and blueprints.
  • Ability to plan work and write reports.
  • Available to work various shifts as required.
  • Possesses a valid Illinois/Indiana driver’s license.

  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, routine building operations, routine grounds maintenance, minor construction, and other maintenance-related work as assigned by the Building Foreman.
  • Works in compliance with established safety procedures.
  • Inspects facilities to ensure safety and security by performing tasks such as locking doors and windows after operating hours.
  • Keeps assigned work area(s) neat and clean at all times.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and instruments in an efficient and safe operating condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment
  • 12-month work year
  • Starting wage is $28.00/hour
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks
  • 10 days of sick leave, 5 days of personal leave, and 15 vacation days per year
  • 15+ paid holidays per year
