Job Description

Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical and sanitary systems throughout the district.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions
• Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair problems
• Ability to communicate effectivelyAbility to operate hand and power tools
• Ability to work independently

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Repair and maintenance of district facilities, including woodwork, electrical switches, fixtures, plumbing fixtures, drainage systems, and broken glass
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs
• Assist in the relocation of furnishings (desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.)
• Unload shipments of school supplies and commodities
• Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment
• Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers and other items as required
• Install ceiling and flooring materials
• Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventative maintenance as required

Work Conditions

Continued walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching; work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes and odors.

Experience

One year experience in general maintenance preferred.

Days of Service

250 days.
