Job summary

Service Corporation International in Virginia seeks a Cemetery Maintenance Associate to care for cemetery grounds, mausoleum and related locations. You will perform landscaping, grave-site prep, and routine repairs, while assisting with ceremonies and interments.

Under supervision, you’ll operate lawn equipment, install markers, and maintain markers and scenery. This role requires physical stamina and a commitment to safety and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or relevant work experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance and push/pull heavy loads.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and maintains lawn, trims around trees and markers.
• Maintains drives, walkways, and performs snow removal as needed.
• Erects tents/canopies and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies.
• Assists with openings and closings for interments and entombments.
• Operates backhoe to dig graves under supervision and installs markers.
• Maintains cemetery features and cleans and stores equipment.
