Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking an entry-level Groundskeeper to maintain the grounds at a cemetery or funeral home location in Tucson, AZ. You will mow, water, fertilize, trim shrubs, and tend flower beds while keeping the property in top condition.

You will operate lawn and grounds equipment, remove debris, and participate in interment-related activities. The role requires physical work outdoors, adherence to safety rules, and teamwork for various shift needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant landscape/groundskeeping or related labor experience.
• Funeral industry experience preferred.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass, plow snow, water lawns, fertilize and trim shrubs; tend flower beds.
• Operate lawn and grounds equipment (mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers).
• Remove debris; maintain grounds neat and clean; assist in openings/closings for interments.
• Assist in grave location layout with verification procedures; perform minor repairs on cemetery property/equipment.
• Assist in cremation-related duties under supervision; move burial vaults; follow safety and regulatory guidelines.

Performs all groundskeeping and maintenance matters on the properties and maintains the overall appearance of a cemetery, mausoleum or funeral home location. Incumbent gains an understanding of how a cemetery operates.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESMows grass, plows snow, waters lawns, fertilizes and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintainedOperates lawn and grounds equipment including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and other related power equipmentRemoves debris and trash from grounds.
