Job summary

The Crom Corporation in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Maintenance Welder/Servicing Tech to perform service, repairs and welding on company equipment and work orders. This full-time role requires self-motivation, the ability to read blueprints, set up welds, and operate welding equipment in vertical, horizontal or overhead positions.

You will work primarily outdoors under a shed, with safety procedures, occasional field assignments, and a benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) match

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical experience.
• 1-2 years welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine service on pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Inspect equipment to identify and fix malfunctions.
• Modify and repair field and shop equipment.
• Coordinate with Blasting to ensure flow of equipment to be serviced.
• Support machinist for repairs and maintenance on rolling stock and pre-stressing equipment.
• Read blueprints and measurements to plan layouts and procedures.
• Set up components for welding per specifications.
• Weld components in various positions.
• Maintain safety procedures.
• Perform other duties including mechanics and machining.

Job Purpose

Perform necessary service, repairs and welding on company equipment and job work orders.

We are looking for a full-time Equipment Service Technician who is self-motivated to work with the CROM Team in our Gainesville, FL Shop location.

• Perform routine service on pneumatic and hydraulic operated equipment.
• Perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions.
• Perform modifications and repairs to field and shop equipment.
• Coordinate with Blasting to ensure flow of equipment to be serviced.
• Provide support to the machinist for repairs and maintenance on rolling stock and pre-stressing equipment.
• Assist in pulling and inspecting parts for loading lists.
• Observe and maintain all safety procedures.
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Maintain and repair equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned including mechanics and machining and be subject to temporary assignment with other supervisors or for fieldwork.
• Report to work as scheduled by the employer and without excessive absenteeism.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalent.

Mechanical experience.

1-2 years welding experience.

Other Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to drive a forklift or learn.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.).
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).
• Willingness to travel for jobsite repairs and fabrication.

Working Conditions:

Primarily works under a shed outside exposed to the elements.

Exposed to hazardous materials.

Exposed to frequent loud noises.

Exposed to dangerous machinery.

Generally works four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day, although overtime may occur.
