Job summary

A regional airline is seeking a Maintenance Training Instructor in St. Louis, Missouri. The ideal candidate will possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license and have a minimum of two years of aircraft maintenance experience, including experience with Bombardier CRJ550/700. This role involves developing and conducting training for technicians and maintaining training materials. Strong communication skills and the ability to teach are essential. Relocation to St. Louis is required, and candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Job description

GOJET AIRLINES - MAINTENANCE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

LOCATION - ST. LOUIS, MO

The Maintenance Training Instructor (MTI) is responsible for aircraft maintenance training programs and oversees the qualifications, testing, and record-keeping for training events for internal and external training customers. The MTI develops and conducts initial and recurrent classroom and on-the-job training at the flight line and hangar work areas, employing the necessary training aids, tools, and data in accordance with the Company training program.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
  • Minimum 2 years regional or mainline aircraft maintenance experience, including formal and informal training in airframe, electrical, digital/analog avionics, hydraulic, pneumatic, and powerplant systems
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to teach approved procedures and best practices
  • Ability to learn and effectively teach GoJet Airlines policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in the English language
Preferred
  • Experience must include demonstrated system and component level troubleshooting, servicing, repair, maintenance documentation/record keeping, use of advanced tools and diagnostic test equipment, aircraft BITE and CMC fault isolation procedures, ground support equipment, use of manuals, and strict adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Bombardier CRJ550/700 maintenance and troubleshooting, or experience with glass cockpit, and avionics systems preferred
  • Instructional/training background, or experience as a manager, lead technician, or crew chief performing structured on-the-job technical training is desired
  • Knowledge of Part 121 federal regulations
  • CRJ550/70 school Instructor experience
Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to instruct maintenance technicians and ramp personnel in all aspects of the GoJet training curriculum. PC skills desired including familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of computer-based aircraft maintenance and tracking systems
  • Able to read, understand, and present technical publications, regulations, policies, and procedures and apply them to training material
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate creativity in training materials development, putting together information in a way that will engage the audience and keep their interest
  • Oversee integrity of data entry of training tracking data
  • Perform other specific duties as assigned by the Senior Maintenance Training Instructor
  • Keep abreast of safety, performance, reliability, and durability issues within the GoJet fleet and the industry to continually improve and update technical and procedural training content
Job Specifics
  • Position is based in St. Louis, Missouri; relocation to the St. Louis area is required.
  • May include alternative work schedules, including night and weekend schedules, to accommodate training customers
  • Travel throughout the United States and Canada is required
  • Instruct using online training systems
  • Create coursework using MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and using available graphics and multimedia software
  • Administer, grade, and record results of written, online, and practical exams
  • Complete class training records
  • Maintain currency of training information (update training materials in conjunction with Company policy/procedural changes)
  • Accountable for ensuring the Company and regulatory procedures are followed
  • Revise training curriculum and methods as needed to improve effectiveness
  • Ensure that training content is accurate and up to date by consulting the appropriate resources (Company and FAA guidelines and subject matter experts)

  • Dependability is important! The MTI must have an outstanding attendance record and must be someone with dedication and a high level of motivation
Work Environment
  • Typically working in a mixed classroom setting, ramp, flight line, and maintenance hangar environment
  • Facilitate training courses in a classroom, workshop, and hangar
  • Instruct on training and training devices (MFTD, FTD) when part of the training program
Physical Demands

The physical requirements of the Maintenance Training Instructor vary. There are days with prolonged periods seated behind a desk preparing training material. As well, there are days when standing, facilitating training in either the classroom or hangar, can be taxing on the back and feet. Instructors may be required to stand for several hours at a time.
