Job summary

JBS Grand Island Beef is seeking a Maintenance/Safety Trainer for the B shift to lead safety and maintenance training within the Maintenance & Reliability team.

The role involves delivering new-hire and ongoing safety sessions, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, and collaborating with plant leadership to foster a safety-first culture at the Grand Island site in Nebraska.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background with welding, power transmission, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct authorized training on safety topics including Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Permit-Required Confined Spaces, Hazard Communication, and maintenance topics.
• Deliver new-hire and monthly safety training and ensure all required sessions are completed on schedule.
• Promote a safe working environment by collaborating with plant managers, supervisors, and team members.
• Perform initial evaluations for maintenance new hires to determine starting wages.
• Train maintenance employees in core skills such as Welding, Power Transmission, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Electrical.
• Track maintenance training hours each quarter and communicate progress to management.
• Submit job change forms for employee wage increases.
• Work flexible days/hours as needed.

This role plays a key part in strengthening our maintenance and safety culture by delivering high‑quality training, supporting new hires, and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols. Our department is growing and evolving—this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our training programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct authorized training on safety topics including:
  • Powered Industrial Trucks
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Fall Protection
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Permit‑Required Confined Spaces
  • Hazard Communication
  • Maintenance training topics as assigned
• Deliver new‑hire and monthly safety training and ensure all required sessions are completed on schedule.
• Promote a safe working environment by collaborating with plant managers, supervisors, and team members.
• Perform initial evaluations for maintenance new hires to determine starting wages.
• Ensure all new employees understand and are properly trained in safety policies and procedures.
• Train maintenance employees (post‑probation) in core maintenance skills such as:
  • Welding
  • Power Transmission
  • Pneumatics
  • Hydraulics
  • Electrical
• Track maintenance employee training hours each quarter and communicate progress to management.
• Submit job change forms for employee wage increases.
• Work flexible days/hours as needed (regular schedule TBD).
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Skills & Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background with experience in welding, power transmission, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Experience as a shop or mechanical instructor is ideal.
