Job summary

Sterling Airways is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Trainer to join our Maintenance & Engineering team. This role emphasizes practical, real‑world instruction and regulatory compliance.

You will develop and deliver FAA Part 121 aligned training, mentor technicians, and ensure safety and performance. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of maintenance experience and strong communications. Use computer-based training, CAMP/TRAX, and PowerPoint to build skills and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • FAA A&P certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on aircraft maintenance experience in a commercial aviation setting.
  • Prior experience delivering technical training or mentoring maintenance personnel preferred.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, MEL/CDL/NEF use, and safety protocols.
  • Computer literacy with PowerPoint, Excel, web-based training systems, and maintenance tracking software (e.g., CAMP, TRAX).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex technical content clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, supportive, and committed to helping others succeed.
  • Knowledge of FAA training and record-keeping requirements.
  • Experience with Saab 2000 or similar turboprop aircraft preferred but not required.
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) or previous Maintenance Control experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs for aircraft maintenance technicians and staff.
  • Conduct initial, recurrent, and remedial training covering aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, safety, human factors, and regulatory topics.
  • Create and maintain course materials, manuals, and assessments using computer-based training systems and modern instructional tools.
  • Provide hands-on instruction based on real operational scenarios and field experience.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs based on feedback, audit findings, and changes in regulations or fleet.
  • Support compliance with company training manuals and FAA-mandated training requirements.
  • Stay up to date on technical publications, airworthiness directives, and emerging maintenance best practices.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Technical Operations to address training gaps, audit outcomes, and continuous improvement efforts.
