Job summary

Mann + Hummel, Inc. in Portage, PA seeks a skilled Tool & Die Mold Repair Technician to maintain and repair plastic injection tooling in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include modifying tooling per engineering direction, fabricating parts, and performing preventative maintenance. Experience with hot runner and valve gate systems is important. Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Journeyman's card through apprenticeship or 8 years of dedicated tool and die mold repair experience.
• MIG and TIG welding qualifications required.
• Tool room machining qualifications required.
• Experience in tool and die mold repair with strong mechanical background.
• Plastic injection molding equipment experience is essential.
• Familiar with hot runner and valve gate systems.
• Ability to work independently with planning/requisitioning parts and materials, arranging own work, responsible for outcome and closure.
• Proficient with shop tools and automated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Emergency plastic injection tool and die repair.
• Modify and/or fabricate blueprint tooling equipment from engineering direction.
• Component part fabrication from sample and/or prints.
• Coordinate and perform preventative maintenance of plastic injection tools.
• Record daily activities in centralized maintenance management system.
• Organize and complete scheduled PMs and projects assigned.
• Use troubleshooting/root cause analysis to determine corrective action on problems with plastic injection molds.

Job description

Main Tasks

• Emergency Plastic Injection Tool and Die Repair
• Modify and/or fabricate blueprint tooling equipment from engineering direction
• Component part fabrication from sample and/or prints
• Coordinate and perform Preventative Maintenance of plastic injection tools
• Work within the Centralized Maintenance management system to record personal daily activities
• Organize and complete scheduled PM’s, manufacturing continuous events/projects that are assigned.
• Utilize trouble shooting techniques/root cause analysis to determine the corrective action on problem/issues with plastic injection molds

Experience

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School graduate or G.E.D. is basic for this job
• Successful completion of an apprenticeship where you earned a journeyman’s card or 8 years of proven experience where you were dedicated to tool and die mold repair.
• Mig and Tig Welding Qualifications Necessary
• Tool room Machining Qualifications Necessary
• Experience in the trade of tool and die mold repair with a strong mechanical background
• Plastic Injection Molding Equipment experience is a must
• Familiar with hot runner and valve gate systems
• Works independently in day-to-day activities, responsible for planning/requisitioning parts and materials, arranging own work, responsible for outcome and closure.
• Demonstrates knowledge/experience with all level shop tools and automated equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production requirements.
