Job summary

Freudenberg Group in the United States seeks a maintenance technician to provide skilled support, identify failure points, and maintain process equipment such as blowers, chillers, and HVAC systems. You will work with multiple trades and contribute to root cause analysis while upholding ISO/TS quality standards.

The role requires a technical degree or relevant experience, CMMS familiarity, and the ability to work overtime and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree preferred but not required with experience.
  • 0–5 years in industrial maintenance; extrusion/plastics/web handling experience is a plus.
  • Experience in CMMS for preventive maintenance tracking.
  • Training in pipefitting, sheet metal fabrication and welding preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate with diverse teammates.
  • Willingness to work overtime and on-call rotation. Certifications for equipment handling encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled maintenance support to proactively identify and prevent failure points.
  • Maintain, repair and upgrade process equipment including HVAC, blowers, boilers, and conveyors.
  • Apply lubrication, alignment and balancing best practices; perform proactive inspections.
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis and improve maintenance management systems.
  • Collaborate with electrical, process and reliability teams to prioritize tasks.
  • Support ISO/TS quality system and keep equipment in high standard of care.
  • Assist in design, installation and startup of new or modified equipment; ensure safety procedures.
  • Maintain 5S cleanliness and housekeeping; participate in on-call rotations.
  • Provide skills training to maintenance personnel to enhance reliability.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide skilled maintenance support to proactively identify and prevent failure points in operations equipment by interpreting operator feedback, understanding machine status indications and functions, and recommending action.
  • Maintain, repair, and recommend upgrades for process equipment including blowers, chillers, compressors, blowers, boilers, various types of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, industrial HVAC systems, extruders, heaters, dehumidifiers, web conveying, winding, slitting, and other equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of rotating equipment failure modes and maintenance techniques to identify, prevent and correct. Familiarity with best practices for lubrication, precision alignment & balancing, and proactive inspections to identify failures prior to failure itself.
  • Contribute to improving our maintenance management system through Root Cause Analysis and resolving errors that occur with a preventive mindset.
  • Collaborate as a multidisciplinary team member with electrical, process, and reliability colleagues to prioritize tasks and investments to meet operational needs and initiatives for an assigned area of the plant.
  • Support and engage in our ISO/TS quality management system by maintaining equipment to a high standard of care and contributing feedback to the maintenance management system to prevent any deviations in critical-to-quality processes.
  • Support maintaining plant utilities, including steam, compressed air, chilled water, cooling tower waters, exhaust fans, and associated equipment systems.
  • Assist engineering in the design, installation, start up, shut down, and planned maintenance of new or modified equipment in accordance with US and Freudenberg safety procedures and standards.
  • Maintain high standards for workmanship and housekeeping before, during, and after work, and contribute to cleanliness and 5S adherence in shared areas.
  • Contribute to rotating on-call duties providing maintenance expertise and hands‑on support when needed.
  • Provide skills training to other maintenance personnel to enhance equipment reliability and safety.
Qualifications:
  • A two-year technical degree in Industrial Systems or related field focusing on machine maintenance is preferred but not required in lieu of professional experience. Certificates in PLCs, Hydraulics, and/or Pneumatics are beneficial.
  • 0-5 years of technical support experience working in an industrial environment, prior experience in extrusion, plastics, and web handling or winding is a plus.
  • Experience and computer skills within a Computerized Maintenance Management System for preventive maintenance work tracking and corrective requests is preferred.
  • Experience and training in pipefitting, sheet metal fabrication and welding are preferred.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written, and ability to collaborate effectively with team members of varying levels of technical experience.
  • Ability to work overtime or non-regular hours when needed to support 24/7 operations. Must be able to assist in on-call rotation.
  • Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck and Arial Lift Equipment certifications on site.
