Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment and facility systems, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. This role requires hands-on experience from a completed trade school program.

You will read and program PLCs, perform preventive and reactive maintenance, and diagnose equipment failures with a focus on safety and reliability across Hubbell's electrical and utility solutions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a trade school program in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and PLC programs.
  • Strong safety mindset and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, reactive, and predictive maintenance on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems and devices.
  • Read, interpret, and program PLC controllers and languages.
  • Diagnose root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical components, and piping as needed.
  • Operate fork trucks and material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and production reports.

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role requires technical skills gained through a completed trade school program, and hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

  • Ensuring all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies
  • Working safely on a variety of equipment to carry out preventive, reactive and predictive maintenance
  • Troubleshooting electronic, hydraulic, and electromechanical equipment (including specialized equipment)
  • Reading, interpreting, and programming PLC controllers and languages
  • Determining root cause of equipment failures and developing preventative measures
  • Performing electrical/mechanical fabrication and alterations
  • Diagnosing machine operation failures and downtime utilizing machine manuals, PLCs, and other tools, including diagrams, wiring layouts, blueprints, schematics etc.
  • Inspecting, operating, or testing machinery/equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
  • Using tools ranging from common hand and power tools (hammers, hoists, drills etc.) to precision measuring instruments
  • Assembling, installing, or repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, machinery, or equipment
  • Inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other maintenance actions
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Operating fork truck/tow motor, hoists, scissors lifts and overhead lefts
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Completion of a trade school program in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use inspections equipment to ensure the quality of the parts being produced.
  • Ability to physically do the work requiring frequent standing, bending and lifting to 20 lbs. frequently and 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work order instructions and prepare simple production reports.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machine and inspect parts.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate the equipment properly.
  • Ability to pass the respiratory test per OSHA requirement.
