Job summary

Geater Machining & Manufacturing, Co. is seeking an entry‑level Maintenance Technician to perform basic maintenance and custodial tasks under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

The role involves non‑complex mechanical work, cleaning, painting, and assisting with preventive maintenance using CribMaster software. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, basic tool handling skills, and the ability to read and follow manuals and blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; experience may substitute.
• Fork truck certification required; must be able to operate equipment safely.
• Read, write, and speak English fluently; follow written and oral instructions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specs, safety rules, and operating manuals.
• Computer literate with ability to interpret data and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-complex mechanical tasks and basic maintenance; assist with custodial duties.
• Clean and paint as needed.
• Move objects and tools within the facility.
• Read and follow preventive maintenance manuals.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor and service providers for repairs beyond own capability.
• Utilize CribMaster software for preventive maintenance activities.

Position Summary:

The basic function of the Maintenance Technician is to perform simple maintenance and/or custodial duties under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. This is an entry level maintenance position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform non-complex mechanical functions.
• Clean and paint.
• Move objects/tools.
• Read and understand preventive maintenance manuals.
• Work with Maintenance Supervisor to contact service people for repairs that they are unable to repair (major mechanical or electrical).
• Work with crib master software on performing preventative maintenance.

• Fork Truck Certification Required.
• Read, write and speak English fluently.

• Calculate figures and formulas that pertain to the work area.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Preferred: Six months of relevant experience.

Physical Demands Include:

• Sitting, standing, and walking.
• Use of fingers, hands and arms to handle, grip, and grasp objects, controls, parts, tools and to operate required equipment; and reach, push and pull with hands and arms.
• Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Being able to see (20/25 vision with or without glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.
• Steel toed shoes are a requirement for this position.

Work Environment:

This person will work in a manufacturing environment which is temperature controlled for internal work within the building. Work in the warehouse or external to the building is not. The person will be working near moving mechanical parts and in high places. This setting involves manufacturing equipment with others working in close proximity.
