Job summary

Geater Machining & Manufacturing, Co. is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Technician to perform basic maintenance and custodial duties under supervision. This role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and uses Crib Master software for preventative tasks.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, forklift certification, and solid English communication. This on-site position emphasizes safety, teamwork and growing technical skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; six months’ relevant experience preferred.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Must read, write and speak English fluently.
• Ability to read blueprints and safety manuals.
• Ability to interpret various instructions and documents.
• Basic math and measurement skills; computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-complex mechanical tasks in a manufacturing setting.
• Clean and paint as needed; move tools and materials.
• Read and understand preventive maintenance manuals.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor to arrange repairs.
• Use Crib Master software to support preventative maintenance.

Job description

Position Summary:

The basic function of the Maintenance Technician is to perform simple maintenance and/or custodial duties under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. This is an entry level maintenance position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform non-complex mechanical functions.
• Clean and paint.
• Move objects/tools.
• Read and understand preventive maintenance manuals.
• Work with Maintenance Supervisor to contact service people for repairs that they are unable to repair (major mechanical or electrical).
• Work with crib master software on performing preventative maintenance.

• Fork Truck Certification Required.
• Read, write and speak English fluently.
• Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
• Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
• Calculate figures and formulas that pertain to the work area.
• Problem-solve undefined expectations.
• Computer literate.
• Flexibility to work inside of a fast pace environment which may ask for quick change in product being produced.
• Work well in a team environment, demonstrate good communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Preferred: Six months of relevant experience.

Physical Demands Include:

• Sitting, standing, and walking.
• Use of fingers, hands and arms to handle, grip, and grasp objects, controls, parts, tools and to operate required equipment; and reach, push and pull with hands and arms.
• Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Being able to see (20/25 vision with or without glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.
• Steel toed shoes are a requirement for this position.

Work Environment:

This person will work in a manufacturing environment which is temperature controlled for internal work within the building. Work in the warehouse or external to the building is not. The person will be working near moving mechanical parts and in high places. This setting involves manufacturing equipment with others working in close proximity.
