Summary/Purpose

Troubleshoot and repair various automated production equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, washers, powder coat, assembly, and other types of machines for electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other failures.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Read and comprehend electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Working and diagnostic knowledge of three-phase electricity, diagnosis of electrical and electronic circuits/systems, read electrical schematics, working knowledge of relay ladder logic, PLC troubleshooting and programming, CNC troubleshooting and programming.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting skills for diagnosis of AC and DC drives and motors, servo motors and drives, stepper motors and drives as well the related encoders, pulse tachometers and resolvers.
  • Abilities to work with IBM based computers and basic knowledge of networks and other communication methods.
  • Working knowledge of gearboxes and other means of mechanical power transmission.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ball screws along with linear rails and bearings.
  • Fabrication skills including cutting, welding, and grinding.
  • In depth knowledge and troubleshooting skills for pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Must have skills required to modify system if needed.
  • Knowledge of metric and standard forms of measurement for pressure, distance, etc.
  • Abilities to use precision instruments and measuring devices.
  • Abilities to use electrical multi-meters and basic use of oscilloscopes.
  • Abilities and knowledge to troubleshoot various types of bearings and probable root causes of failure.
  • Identify needed parts, install, and modify machines electrically and mechanically as needed.
  • Ability to identify suitable replacement parts if exact replacements are not available.
  • Work daily overtime, weekends, and holidays when required by the immediate supervisor and directed by TL or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of relay logic
  • Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports, read and comprehend materials
  • Math skills including metrics, decimals, fractions, trigonometry, operation control sheets and reading measuring instruments
  • Possess and demonstrate interpersonal skills that promote a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
