Job summary

SupportWorks Housing, formerly Virginia Supportive Housing, is seeking a Full Time Maintenance Technician to support safe and well‑maintained housing for neighbors in need. You will complete work orders, perform electrical and plumbing repairs, maintain building systems, conduct inspections, and assist in emergency on‑call coverage while upholding dignity and respect for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience in building and grounds maintenance.
• Must possess valid VA Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders and conduct walk-through inspections.
• Ensure all buildings and systems operate properly.
• Perform electrical repairs (outlets, switches, fixtures).
• Perform plumbing maintenance and leak repair.
• Repair building components (glass, tile, locks, etc.).
• Paint interiors and perform carpentry.
• Review inventory and place orders for supplies.
• Complete unit turnovers and quarterly preventive maintenance.
• Maintain grounds and support 24/7 emergency on-call rotation.

The Role: Full Time Maintenance Technician

What You'll Do

• Complete work orders and walk-through inspections
• Ensure all buildings and building systems are operating properly
• Perform electrical repairs such as outlets, wall switches, light fixtures and circuits
• Perform plumbing work such as cleaning pipe clogs, replacing fittings, stopping leaks
• Repair or replace glass, tile, cove base, fixtures, blinds, locks, doorknobs, hinges, etc.
• Paint interior surfaces and perform carpentry work
• Review supply and equipment inventory and place orders
• Complete unit turnovers
• Conduct quarterly inspections and preventive maintenance
• Maintain grounds
• Assist in 24-hour emergency maintenance and on-call rotation

What You'll Bring To SupportWorks

• High school diploma or educational equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year experience in building and grounds maintenance
• Valid VA Driver's License, clean driving record and dependable transportation
• Basic building maintenance/grounds maintenance tools to perform the job
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills
