Maintenance Technician Stationary Engineer (Relief)-Montgomery County

Job Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boilers, chiller, and auxiliary systems by reading meters and gauges, and taking appropriate action to ensure safe operation.
• Repack valves, change piping, and lubricate compressors, pumps, and related parts regularly.
• Start, stop, adjust, and regulate boilers and associated equipment to ensure efficiency and continuous service.
• Clean boilers, waterside, and fireside annually or as required to meet codes and regulations.
• Inspect boilers, pipelines, and operating equipment daily for leaks or defective parts.
• Maintain records of gauges and meter readings to monitor fuel, steam consumption, and system pressures.
• Consult with and inform Lead/Chief Stationary Engineers of activities, needs, and issues.
• Perform other maintenance tasks as directed by supervisor or lead technician.

Job Details

Maintains and operates stationary steam boilers, pumps, and related equipment such as water softeners, air compressors, water treatment systems, and associated piping, chillers, towers, and auxiliary systems. Performs daily chemical water treatment to ensure proper equipment functioning. Enforces all safety rules and regulations to keep the boiler house safe. Keeps the boiler house and surrounding area clean and up to Jefferson's standards. Occasionally performs general mechanical and minor electrical/HVAC work to support the Facilities department and local building needs.
