Job summary

Bausch + Lomb in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance on a distribution center’s equipment and manage service contractors. The role requires 3–5 years of industrial maintenance, forklift certification, and knowledge of fire suppression systems.

You will coordinate safety inspections and maintain parts inventories while working a second shift. The position involves overtime, weekend availability, and potential cross-shift coverage.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge of plumbing and fabrication.
  • 3-5 years maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Fork truck certification required – certification course will be provided after hire-in.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression systems.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Preferred: Electrical, HVAC, Material Handling Systems, PLC Programming.

  • Schedule and maintain inspection of safety, security, and fire prevention equipment.

  • Perform calibration testing of equipment as necessary.
  • Address issues and maintain the Maintenance Service Request Ticket System.
  • Maintain training up to date and compliant with all site and Quality requirements specific to the job.
  • Lead projects and/or work groups.
  • Make sound decisions and use problem-solving tools.
  • Multi-task.
  • Practice good interpersonal skills and work within a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain working relationships with all site personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to use Windows-based computer programs.

Scope Of Position
  • All maintenance activities of the Lynchburg Distribution Center.
  • Work under general supervision in all areas of the Lynchburg plant and adhere to all governing SOPs and regulations.
  • Expected to work overtime during scheduled weekend work as determined by their supervisor which includes Saturday and/or Sunday and be flexible to work across shifts and holidays as necessary. Available for on-call emergencies.
  • Expected to follow all safety policies procedures and practices including lockout/tagout, waste handling, electrical safety, emergency response, PPE and others.
  • Provide support and oversite of approved vendors and service contractor activities to ensure compliance to procedures and regulations.

Hourly Rate: $28.00 plus $1.00 shift differential

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday (4:00pm-12:00am)

This position may be available in the following location(s): LYNCHBURG VIRGINIA DISTRIBUTION CENTER

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $27.59 - $41.39 per hour. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors. U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. They may also be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, a tuition reimbursement program (select degrees), company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive sick time, floating holidays and paid vacation.
