MSS Solutions, LLC invites a Maintenance Technician - Roper III to join our Charleston-area facilities team, performing on-site work at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, SC.

The role concentrates on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general mechanical maintenance to ensure reliable hospital operations. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of healthcare facility maintenance experience, strong trouble-shooting skills, and a safety-conscious mindset.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 3+ years in repair/maintenance of healthcare facilities.
• Fluent in English; read/write clearly.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pass background check and drug test.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Repair and maintain lighting fixtures, ballasts, and circuit switches.
• Repair, replace and/or maintain 115V outlets and circuits.
• Operate and test electronic systems (fire alarm, security, timers).
• Replace or repair plumbing fixtures; perform preventive maintenance on plumbing.
• Maintain and clean mechanical rooms and equipment to keep in like-new condition.
• Complete corrective/preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
• Perform painting as needed and assist in installing new equipment.
• Respond to on-call emergency repairs and after-hours work.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Electrical: Repair and maintain lighting fixtures, ballasts, and circuit switches.
• Electrical: Repair, replace and/or maintain 115V convenience outlets and circuits.
• Electronic systems (Fire alarm, security, timers): Ability to operate and perform tests.
• Plumbing: Replace or repair flush valve on toilets and keep properly maintained.
• Plumbing: Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing issues throughout facility including roof drains, storm and sewer drains, faucets, valves, water filters, etc.
• Plumbing: Clear drainage/sewage stoppages using appropriate equipment and methods.
• Plumbing: Locate and exercise isolation and shut off valves.
• Carpentry: Repair and assemble furniture.
• Carpentry: Perform wall patching.
• Carpentry: Install or repair ceramic wall tile.
• Carpentry: Make repairs to roofing materials.
• Flooring: Make repairs to ceramic, vinyl tile floors.
• HVAC: Operate HVAC systems and controls.
• HVAC: Change Ventilation Filters.
• HVAC: Perform lubrication of motors/pumps/fans.
• HVAC: Assist in repair of HVAC system equipment.
• HVAC: Perform cleaning of refrigeration equipment coils.
• General: Maintain and clean mechanical rooms and equipment to maintain in like new condition.
• General: Complete corrective/preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• General: Perform painting as needed/assigned.
• General: Perform cleaning/janitorial functions or supervise.
• General: Assist in installing new equipment for the facility.
• General: Respond to On-Call emergency repair work or after hours.
• General: Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• General: Maintain supply and materials in stock, organize and replenish.
• General: Ability to locate and shut off valves and electrical circuits in an emergency.
• General: Assist other trades/technicians where assigned and/or needed.
• Attend and actively participate in staff/safety meetings.
• Maintain all logs per JCO requirements as applicable.
• Open, document action taken, and close on demand and preventative maintenance work requests using a PC and PDA.
• Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications And Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent or be able to obtain GED within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• 3+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of health care facilities including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and physical plant equipment.
• Healthcare DHEC, NFPA, and TJC specific code knowledge is preferred.
• Fluent in English language to speak, read and write clearly.
• Must have a working knowledge of computers.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Maintain correct and accurate record keeping.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in leading the project management process.
• Proven record of providing excellent customer service.
• Understand and abide by all applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS) procedures.
• Understand and abide by all Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
• Possess a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PDA.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate, lifting, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, climbing (including but not limited to ladders), crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching with varying frequencies. Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 60 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 60 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds. Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important. The employee is regularly required to talk or listen effectively.

Work Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. Must be able to work in hazardous conditions while maintaining safety standards, work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, industrial settings, and construction sites, and work in loud environments and temperature extremes.
