Job summary

Greystar is seeking a skilled maintenance technician in Charleston to ensure the physical aspects of buildings meet safety and appearance standards. You will diagnose defects from resident requests, perform repairs, and complete the make-ready process for vacant apartments.

You will manage inventory, document work orders, assist with grounds upkeep, and support cost-control by repairing rather than replacing parts.

Qualifications

• EPA Type 1 and II or Universal refrigerant certifications (applies to certified service technicians).
• Valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart on property (where applicable).
• State and local certification requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned work orders from resident requests for service and preventive maintenance by diagnosing issues and repairing per policy, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Completes the make-ready process to prepare vacant apartments for leasing by performing inspections, listing needed repairs, scheduling vendors, obtaining materials, and verifying work.
• Follows procedures to access materials from the maintenance department, tracks inventory, returns unused items, and notifies the supervisor about re-ordering needs.
• Documents and files paperwork to properly document and track service requests.
• Assists in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities by cleaning, painting curbs and signage, and pressure-washing as needed.
• Supports cost-control by repairing rather than replacing parts when possible and using materials efficiently.
