Job summary

McCain Foods USA, Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids seeks a Maintenance Technician – Processing to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems on a 2nd shift (3-11PM) Monday–Friday, with every-other weekend work.

The role requires owning your own tools, understanding safety practices, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot and repair plant equipment, document work in CMMS, and collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure reliability and food-safety

Qualifications

  • Requires Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or State Mechanical Journeyman certification.
  • Basic electrical knowledge— electrical/instrumentation training or equivalent experience.
  • Must own tools to perform tasks safely.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety and maintains OSHA/NEC/70E compliance.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical and electrical plant systems.
  • Performs lubrication, electrical tasks, and responds to trouble calls.
  • Completes work orders and reports in CMMS with proper documentation.
  • Keeps repair areas clean to meet food safety guidelines.

About The Role.
What you’ll be doing.
Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician – Processing maintains, modifies and occasionally designs equipment layouts, estimates costs, and builds plant equipment under slight supervision. This role is responsible for the mechanical/electrical care, maintenance, and operability of all associated equipment in accordance with safety, quality, specifications, federal guidelines and company policies. Your day-to-day may consist of:

  • Promotes job safety, participates in developing plant safety goals, policies, and maintains compliance with OSHA and NEC/70E codes.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and automated plant systems using specialized tools and technical expertise.
  • Performs assigned and emergency maintenance tasks, including lubrication, electrical work, and responding efficiently to trouble calls.
  • Accurately completes required reports, work orders, and records within the CMMS system, maintaining proper documentation and supporting quality processes.
  • Ensures repair areas are properly cleaned to meet food safety guidelines; collaborates with team members and provides technical support as needed.

This role works in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas. This role also regularly engages in prolonged standing, walking, communicating, and sensory tasks throughout each shift, while frequently handling objects, climbing, balancing, and performing various physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as part of job duties. The use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus is required.

Available Shift: 2nd Shift (3-11PM) Monday-Friday, must work every other weekend.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Requires Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or State Mechanical Journeyman certification, or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency; additionally, candidate must possess basic electrical knowledge—including electrical/instrumentation tech school credits, OJT, or millwright coursework (2008 or later)—or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency.
  • Demonstrates safe working practices with 480 volt three-phase power, possesses basic knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, control wiring, PLCs, VFDs, servos), performs troubleshooting and component replacement, interprets VFD faults, and sets up codes on coders; does not perform installation or programming of advanced systems.
  • Must have own tools to perform related tasks safely.
  • Must possess strong knowledge and ability to interpret mechanical and electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams relevant to the field.
  • Maintains a continuous learning mindset and adapts quickly to new equipment, processes, and roles.
  • Demonstrates strong technical ability with a digital-first approach, embracing new technologies and accurately entering data.
  • Communicates clearly with all levels of the organization, follows instructions (written/oral/diagram form), and completes necessary documentation independently in English.
  • Pays close attention to detail, prioritizing product quality, safety, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Physically capable of meeting job requirements and consistently brings a positive, team-focused attitude to work.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, technical proficiency, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills while working independently or collaboratively to ensure effective and logical decision-making in diverse situations.
  • Demonstrates the physical capability to bend frequently and lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds), alongside proficiency in safely operating Powered Industrial Vehicles to support workplace operations.

Compensation Package

: - Starting at $32.84 USD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
