Responsibilities

  • Consults with and informs supervisor on progress and issues.
  • Maintains records and pertinent information.
  • Knows trends, standards, and legalities of department/facilities.
  • Performs and completes carpentry work.
  • Installs sheetrock, plaster, metal studs and caulking.
  • Installs locks and other door/cabinet hardware.
  • Assembles and installs basic cabinetry and interprets drawings.
  • Operates and maintains boilers and ensures safe operation.

A Brief Overview

The Maintenance Technician is accountable for performing a variety of general, mechanical and preventative maintenance duties as well as inspections, repairing and moving of equipment throughout assigned facilities.

What you will do
  • Consults with and keeps supervisor informed on progress and any problems with assigned projects.
  • Maintains all required records and pertinent information.
  • Has knowledge of trends, standards, and legalities of practice and activities of department and facilities.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform and finish carpentry work.
  • Demonstrates ability to install sheetrock, plaster, metal studs (building materials) and perform culking.
  • Demonstrates ability to install locks and other door and cabinet hardware.
  • Demonstrates ability to assemble and install basic cabinetry and interpret drawings.
  • Operates and maintains boilers and takes appropriate action for safe operation.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Driver’s License (MN) - Minnesota Department of Public Safety Upon Hire
  • Boiler Operator - Licensing Board within 180 Days
  • 1-3 years experience in a related field.
