Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Maintenance Technician for our union manufacturing client located in Franklin Park, IL. They are looking for a highly driven individual that will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, overhead cranes, hoist, replacement of AC/DC motors and other types of installations.
Shift: 1st Shift 6:15am-2:45pm with flexibility to work OT/Weekends as neededPay: $23.82/hr. starting pay with well-qualified candidates making up to $30.24/hr.Direct Hire Position with a Union Company!
Essential Functions:

  • Work from the direction of the Lead Mechanic to support the preventative maintenance schedule, make unforeseen repairs, troubleshoot and install new or repaired equipment
  • Perform a variety of electrical-trade functions in the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment for generating, distribution and/or utilization of electric energy in an establishment
  • Install or repair any of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment while working from blueprints, drawings, layout or other specifications
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment
  • Communicate with the Lead, Supervisors, Production Manager, and General Manager regarding problems and estimated times for repairs
  • Learn aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the shop
  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management
  • Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all company safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2 to 3 years of previous experience in a maintenance related position
  • 2 to 3 years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Certified or being able to be certified to run forklifts, man-lifts, cranes and all manufacturing equipment
  • Computer experience for input and retrieval of data a plus
  • The ability to read and decipher blueprints, schematics, state and federal code books and references without assistance and use them to properly perform the required maintenance installations or tasks
  • The ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills


Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • 3 years of previous experience with overhead crane maintenance and operations
  • 3 years of previous experience operating hand and/or power tools in a professional environment
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience
