Job summary

SJJS Administration is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the PM shift at Highland Park, MI. This role keeps campus facilities safe and functioning, performing routine and preventative maintenance on buildings, utilities, and mechanical systems to support youth programs.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, 2+ years in building and equipment maintenance, a valid Michigan driver’s license, and the ability to pass background, DHS Central Registry, medical clearance, and drug

Responsibilities

• Maintain Safe Spaces: routine and preventative maintenance on campus buildings, utility systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot & Repair: service and repair plumbing, heating fixtures, and essential facility systems.
• Support Campus Function: work with maintenance supervisors to minimize disruption to daily youth programming.
• Ensure Operational Excellence: keep facilities aligned with safety, security, and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain Safe Spaces: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on campus buildings, utility systems, and mechanical equipment to ensure a safe, secure environment for youth.
• Troubleshoot & Repair: Service, repair, and install plumbing, heating fixtures, and essential facility systems.
• Support Campus Function: Collaborate with maintenance supervisors to complete repairs efficiently and minimize disruptions to daily youth programming.
• Ensure Operational Excellence: Keep all physical facility standards aligned with safety, security, and quality requirements.

What You Bring

• Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED; 2+ years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance/repair (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Driver’s License: Valid, unrestricted State of Michigan Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Clearances: Ability to successfully complete a background check (free of felony convictions, DHS Central Registry clearance) and medical clearance (physical, TB test, and drug screen).
• Communication: Must have a reliable home phone or cell phone.
