Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role performs repairs and implements preventive maintenance to promote resident well-being and building aesthetics. You will report to the Maintenance Director on the condition of facilities.

The position involves handling biohazardous waste practices and performing general maintenance tasks across electrical, painting, and carpentry areas, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience with general maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to follow safety and chemical handling procedures.
• Able to work with minor electrical, painting and carpentry tasks.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance work (light electrical, painting, carpentry, etc.).
• Maintains clean laundry room and stores chemicals as instructed.
• Follows standards for chemical handling and safety.
• Maintains effective use of the work-order system.
• Demonstrates excellent mechanical skills.
• Communicates with Maintenance Director on conditions of buildings and equipment.

Benchmark at Scotch Plains is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team! In this role the Maintenance Technician performs repairs (both minor and major). You will implement regular and preventive maintenance programs that promote a sense of well-being and aesthetic appeal for residents and staff and communicate with the Maintenance Director on the condition of buildings and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Understands the practices surrounding proper handling of biohazardous waste.
• Maintains a clean laundry room in an orderly manner and stores chemicals in accordance with product or supervisor instruction.
• Follows standards and practices for specific chemicals.
• Demonstrates excellent mechanical skills.
• Works effectively within the work-order system.
• Performs general maintenance work (light electrical, painting, carpentry, etc.)

Requirements

• Familiar with emergency procedures if chemicals are misused.
• Demonstrates the interest and ability to learn new skills and techniques as needed.
• Demonstrates proper usage of chemicals and equipment.
