Job Description

Hickory, North Carolina, a well-rounded community located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains along Interstate 40, is seeking dedicated individuals for landscaping and maintenance roles. Responsibilities

1. Operate lawn and landscape equipment including mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, and leaf blowers.
2. Seed, plant, fertilize grass, and add lime as needed.
3. Mow grass, weed eat, trim, and remove debris.
4. Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lawn and landscape care and maintenance.
• Understanding of city and department policies and procedures.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Skill in operating tractors, bush hogs, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, leaf blowers, and other tools.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands

The role requires frequent standing, walking, handling tools and equipment, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and crawling. The employee must often lift, push, or pull over 100 pounds and pass a functional prework screen conducted by a third-party specialist.

Work Environment

The work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to cold, noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery, infectious diseases, and chemicals. Protective equipment may be required.
