O'Neal Steel has an opening for a Maintenance Technician at our Knoxville, TN facility.

The Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve efficiency, capability, and yield. Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document preventative maintenance issues.

Job Requirements:

  • Basic troubleshooting skills with ability to assist with repairs and diagnostics of advanced processing equipment, CNC, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.
  • Maintenance experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems, demonstrated by:
    • Work experience in relevant systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or
    • Completion of an electrical or mechanical repair training program, or
    • An acceptable combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to perform maintenance and repair tasks on material handling and processing equipment, including:
    • Calculating, laying out, drawing, balancing, and aligning equipment.
    • Performing rigging activities, safety functions, and other maintenance tasks.
    • Utilizing or fabricating parts from various metals, plastics, fittings, valves, and mechanical parts.
    • Maintaining electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes.
    • Programming Variable Frequency Drives.
    • Troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers.
    • Testing electrical systems and circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.

Shift: Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm. Overtime may be required.

Note: Candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug test upon employment offer.
