ZFS Ithaca has taken over the role of Michigan’s largest soybean processor, a title held by its affiliate, Zeeland Farm Services, Inc., for more than 20 years.

ZFS Ithaca is a 45 million bushel per year soybean processing operation and a 6.8 million bushel grain storage facility serviced by both rail and truck. Located in the beautiful city of Ithaca in central Michigan, ZFS Ithaca has quadrupled the state’s soybean processing capacity and will impact agriculture in the state for decades.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM

This position is on-call and requires mandatory attendance during bi-annual preventative maintenance shutdowns. Some training may occur outside of regular hours.

Compensation:

Starting at $26.00/hour, with a $1.50/hour night shift premium.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Participate in maintenance planning and ensure compliance with procedures to meet quality standards.
2. Perform scheduled and emergency repairs or replacements on plant equipment, including troubleshooting.
3. Conduct preventative maintenance activities.
4. Coordinate with operations for maintenance and repairs.
5. Assist with new installations and projects as directed.
6. Follow safety, health, and environmental programs, working safely at all times.
7. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations related to maintenance and equipment.
8. Maintain plant cleanliness and participate in related programs.
9. Assist other departments to ensure efficient plant operation.
10. Learn and perform mechanical and basic electrical repairs on industrial equipment.
11. Maintain a customer service attitude in interactions.
12. Adhere to all safety and operational policies and procedures.
13. Keep the workstation clean, orderly, and safe.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred.
• Experience in maintenance or operation of a process manufacturing facility.

• Knowledge of plant equipment and safety protocols.
• Adaptability to changing work environments.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

• Must be 18 years or older.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting of objects up to 100 pounds.
• Work at heights up to 225 feet.
• Exposure to loud noises, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to wear a respirator.
