Position: Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production equipment. The role involves applying technical skills to maximize equipment availability, troubleshoot, and repair machinery efficiently. The technician will often work independently, especially during night shifts or when alone on shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily maintenance support, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, often as the sole technician on shift
  • Handle plant breakdowns independently during off-hours
  • Assist with installation and startup of new equipment
  • Maintain and upgrade electrical and mechanical documentation
  • Contribute to developing equipment specifications for new machinery
  • Promote and adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies
  • Optional for technicians not acting as the lone technician:
    • Manage work ticket backlogs
    • Achieve maintenance metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and reliability initiatives
    • Serve as subject matter expert for area equipment, directing work crews, managing projects, and troubleshooting complex issues
    • Complete safety assignments related to area expertise
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • HS Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics
  • Experience with electrical test equipment (multi-meters, insulation testers, oscilloscopes)
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VSDs, CNC machinery
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, understand dimensions, tolerances, electrical symbols, and ladder diagrams
  • Solid understanding of complex electrical circuits and machinery
  • Basic knowledge of factory operations, safety, quality, and cost controls
  • Understanding of EHS management systems and quality management systems
  • Experience with Oracle R12 procurement is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Ability to pass forklift operator certification and mobile equipment physical

Working Conditions:

  • Environmentally controlled manufacturing setting involving fiber coloring, plastic extrusion, and metal forming
  • Occasional work with hazardous materials
  • Lockout/Tagout procedures on heavy machinery
  • Work around high-temperature equipment up to 1500°F
  • Major electrical panel work
