Airgas is hiring a Maintenance Technician for our Star, MS dry ice facility. The night shift starts at 6:30 pm with weekend coverage expectations. The role focuses on repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety; you will work with production to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation of all equipment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 3+ years in a production/manufacturing maintenance role.
• Strong technical aptitude to learn plant equipment repairs.
• Formal training in maintenance fields such as hydraulics, electrical systems, PLCs, refrigeration, compressors or pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to repairs and installations on all plant production equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
• Performs equipment inspections to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Collaborates with production supervisors on repair functions.
• Operates a forklift/pallet jack as needed.
• Logs data in maintenance and inventory software and adheres to safety/quality policies.
• Assists with production needs and site cleanup as required.

The Maintenance Technician will assist with tasks such as performing equipment repairs and preventive maintenance on production equipment. At least one day available to work on weekends is needed for team coverage.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Contributes to repairs and installations on all plant production equipment.Ensures completion of preventive maintenance as assigned.Performs equipment inspections to support proper operation and safety.Collaborates on repair functions with production supervisors.Highlights and shares safety hazards and quality deficiencies with maintenance management.Operates a forklift and/or pallet jack as needed to perform job functions.Enters data into maintenance and inventory software systems.Understands and upholds all safety and quality policies and procedures.Clean-up as required including, but not limited to, sweeping, washing, painting, trash removal and pick-up.Occasional assistance with production needs.MENTAL CAPACITYFunction safely in a noisy environment with safe, but elevated, levels of CO2 vapor present in the facility. Able to think clearly and resolve challenges cooperatively during time-sensitive outages.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSIdeally, you are comfortable with the routine lifting of items weighing at least 50 pounds. Using hand tools safely and effectively. Ability to safely climb ladders and work overhead.WORK ENVIRONMENTUnconditioned work space (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter). Safety considerations require the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes). Wet, oily floors create areas requiring extra care to prevent slipping. Dry ice is extremely cold, and therefore requires that gloves be worn when directly handling dry ice.
