Job summary

Southeastern Metal Products LLC in Austin, Texas, seeks a maintenance technician responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and facilities. Job description

Qualifications
  • Performs maintenance to all machinery, equipment, building and facilities.
  • Completes major and minor repairs to machines, equipment and facilities – including, but not limited to: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, electronic and carpentry.
  • Constructs various fixtures, racks, special machines/devices as needed ad with little or no supervision.
  • Writes and tracks requisitions for maintenance materials and supplies to assure accurate procurement.
  • Responsible for keeping the plant productive and running. May require overtime, odd hours or on‑call duty.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Maintains a safe working environment.
  • Follows direction of production manager and maintenance lead.
  • Keep management informed of any maintenance issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
  • Ability to be versatile and work independently or in groups, while achieving goals.
  • Clear understanding of maintenance requirements and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Working knowledge of Production Planning Software (Job Boss).
  • Ability to organize and plan effectively and be able to redirect with minimal notice.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and speak English.
  • Energetic professional who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Associate or Technical degree is preferred with 2+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience or 5+ years of work experience. Mechanical and electronic experience repairing and maintaining metal stamping and fabrication equipment (punch press, press brakes, lasers etc) is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. This position may require pulling, pushing, bending and stooping as needed. Appropriate attire and devices are available to assist if needed. This position requires sitting, filing, typing and bending. Some use of computer and keyboarding is necessary to perform the clerical functions of the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Majority of physical work location is spent in the manufacturing plant. General production noise is encountered continuously throughout the workday. Earplugs, safety glasses and steel-toe footwear are required. Temperatures in production vary and become extreme at times based on general weather temperature and conditions. There is exposure to heat, dust, operating machinery and noise. Work environment consists of daily exposure to manufacturing/production noise and odors as well as time in office at a desk preparing or studying blueprints. Exposure to overhead and fluorescent lighting for maximum visual job performance is required.
