Job summary

Farbman Group in Birmingham, AL is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to handle day-to-day upkeep of residential units and common areas, ensuring a safe, functional living environment for residents.

You will perform routine maintenance, respond to service requests, troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing and electrical issues, and participate in turns, preventive maintenance, and on-call emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, technical/trade school a plus.
• 2–5+ years of maintenance experience in residential or commercial settings.
• Proficient with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and solve problems efficiently.
• Basic computer skills for work order systems.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests (work orders) in a timely manner.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of units and buildings.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot plumbing issues (leaks, clogs, fixtures).
• Address electrical (outlets, lighting, minor wiring).
• Prepare vacant units for new residents (turns).
• Maintain common areas, grounds, and building systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls (on-call rotation).
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
