Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks a Maintenance Technician to help keep multiple campuses safe, clean, organized, and well-maintained. You will respond to emergencies, support new location openings, and uphold a student-centered, safety-first environment.

Reporting to the Site Business Leader, you will perform routine maintenance, inspections, and small repairs across sites, assist with events, and monitor building systems to ensure comfort and security for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficient in the proper use of hand and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and monitor equipment, machinery, and building systems across locations.
• Ensure safety, upkeep, and appearance of interiors, exteriors, and parking areas.
• Conduct regular site inspections and address safety, maintenance, and compliance issues.
• Coordinate snow removal, salting, and seasonal maintenance needs.
• Assist with opening new locations and support after-hours coverage.
• Provide updates to leadership on staff performance, equipment needs, and site conditions.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing routine maintenance and assisting in special projects across multiple locations, ensuring all campuses are safe, clean, organized, and well-maintained. This role responds to emergencies, and supports new location openings while maintaining a student-centered, safety-first environment.

The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Site Business Leader (SBL) for the facility they support.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and monitor all company equipment, machinery, and building systems
• Ensure upkeep, safety, and appearance of building interiors, exteriors, grounds, walkways, driveways,
• and parking areas
• Help conduct regular site inspections and promptly address or report safety, maintenance, and compliance issues
• Assist in the coordination of snow removal, salting, and seasonal maintenance needs
• Ensure all boiler rooms, electrical panels, and mechanical areas are clean, accessible, and code compliant
• Maintain proper function of door hardware, locks, keypads, and access controls
• Assist in ensuring compliance with fire safety and life-safety regulations
• Support classroom, office, and program moves as needed
• Assist with setup and breakdown of special events, including after-hours and overnight needs
• Provide regular updates to the VP of Facilities +Real Estate regarding staff performance, equipment needs, site conditions, and urgent issues
• Support emergency response efforts and remain available for after-hours calls as required
• Assist with opening and supporting new locations and provide coverage for additional
• Perform routine security checks of all entry points
• Monitor and maintain appropriate temperatures throughout buildings
• Ensure all lighting, HVAC, and systems are properly powered on/off daily
• Report suspicious activity or safety concerns to management
• Perform light maintenance tasks including bulb replacement, minor repairs, and touch-up painting
• Perform carpentry, minor construction and general repairs throughout the facility

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules meet corporate compliance targets. Monitor PM completion rates and maintenance KPIs.
• Review work order backlog and prioritize activities based on corporate guidelines

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Proficient in the proper use of hand and power tools
• Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance; certification/licensure not required but preferred.
• Maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across sites
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

• Availability for after-hours and emergency response as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 30lbs
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
