Job summary

VeeRteq Solutions Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician- Mechanical in Akron, NY. The role focuses on repairing and maintaining facilities, production equipment, and ammonia refrigeration systems. You will perform welding, basic mechanical disassembly/assembly, and read blueprints.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of industrial mechanic experience, passes a HAZMAT physical, and can work a 2nd shift. High school diploma or technical credential is required, with forklift certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Must pass a HAZMAT physical and maintain certification.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial mechanic role.
• Ability to burn and weld (MIG, TIG, Stick).
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proficient with electrical meters and basic electrical control circuits.
• Operate and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and NC machinery.
• Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Repair, install and maintain facilities and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot power drives, pneumatics, and control circuits.
• Ensure safety, GMP compliance, and OSHA fall protection procedures.
• Prepare requisitions and manage work orders in the Maintenance system.
• Support maintenance of ammonia refrigeration and related systems.

Pay Rate: $34.21 / hour | Full-Time | Akron, NY

#2. Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in an industrial mechanic position.

#3. Must be capable of burning and welding (MIG, TIG, Stick).

#4. No more than 3 jobs over the past 10yrs

Responsibilities for Maintenance Technician- Mechanical

As a core member of our Maintenance team, you will be expected to:

• Repair, Install and maintain facilities, production equipment and production support systems such as ice cream freezers, filling machines, conveyors, Shrink-wraps, boilers, compressors and the ammonia refrigeration system.

Requirements of the Maintenance Technician- Mechanical:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to push, pull, climb, and squat, bend frequently throughout the shift
• Perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and with decimals and fractions.
• Perform basic measurements (tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers)
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Physically able to wear a respirator and maintain a Hazmat certification
• Basic computer keyboarding skills & touchscreen technology
• Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools
• Able to work at heights using ladders, platforms or mechanical lifts using OSHA required fall protection
• Can work on extreme temperatures ranging -300 F to 1200 F
• Tolerance of variable work environment both indoor and outdoor in conditions that vary based on location and season
• Basic mechanical skills for machine disassembly and reassembly
• NYS approved millwright apprenticeship or 2-year degree in mechanical engineering (military schooling and/or "megatronics" type school is acceptable) or a verifiable trade school.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in an industrial mechanic position
• Capable of reading blue prints and schematics
• Basic proficiency with electrical meters/multi meters
• Proficient with mechanical equipment (including lathes, mill, drill press, saws, grinders)
• Familiarity with the Basics of Fluid Control (such as pumps)
• Capable of burning and welding (MIG, TIG, Stick)
• Metal fabrication
• Pipe fitting
• Able to handle chemicals, paints, solvents and exposure to environmental allergens.

Essential Duties:

• Supports the production of safe, high quality products and team member safety
• Troubleshoot & repair power drives and pneumatics.
• Familiar with NEC codes and the codebook.
• Able to troubleshoot electrical/electronic control circuits.
• Ability to pass a HAZMAT physical
• PLC experience a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Prepares requisitions for materials/parts required to complete work orders.
• Creates work orders, closes them when complete, and accounts for time spent on tasks in our computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Complies with all safety & GMP regulations.
• Follows all company rules, policies and procedures.
• Maintains membership and training in the company emergency response team as outlined by OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZMAT)
• Must be forklift certified or obtain the qualification within the probationary period.
• Availability to work a variable schedule on occasion to cover other team member time off.

• 100% in facility
• Able to work 2nd Shift: 3 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday - Friday
