Job summary

Kerry located just outside Chicago in Melrose Park is seeking a Maintenance Lead to oversee maintenance activities on our meat division equipment. You’ll join a fast-paced facility focusing on batter blends, pastry blends, and breadcrumbs while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires 5–10 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, a high school diploma or GED, and expertise with welding, PLCs, and process instrumentation.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of maintenance mechanic experience, in the food industrial and/or bakery work environment preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required; Apprenticeship or applicable certifications preferred.
• Stainless Steel Welding/Fabrication knowledge.
• Experience in high-speed packaging, refrigeration (ammonia) and mechanical power transmission.
• Experience with and ability to use all types of welding, cutting, machine, and hand tools.
• PLCs (Programmable logic controllers) – a plus.
• Process control instrumentation, process equipment, and basic computing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment and build a reliable operation.
• Repair and install equipment per work orders, ensuring safety and GMP adherence.
• Follow GMP and ensure safety and environmental compliance; maintain housekeeping and inventory.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery such as extruders, mixers, conveyors, and metal detectors.
• Repair and assess electrical issues as they arise.

Compensation Data

The pay rate for this position is $38.18 per hour. Kerry offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, Employee Share Plan, Life, disability, and accident insurance. What You'll Do

Shift Information

3rd Shift Opening. The days and hours are Monday - Friday, 1000PM – 600AM.

As a Maintenance Lead you’ll work with the Maintenance team to complete building repairs, equipment installation, troubleshooting and installation, fulfilment of assigned work orders and unforeseen repairs in a timely fashion. You’ll follow good manufacturing practices to maintain inventory, preventative maintenance, good housekeeping and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental laws and regulations. Important areas of operations you’ll work on (but are not limited to)

• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearing, gears, and other parts of machinery
• Install and maintain pipe systems, hydraulic steam, pneumatic equipment
• Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other related equipment
• Building maintenance including minor plumbing, welding, and general upkeep
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery such as extruders, mixers, conveyors, and metal detectors
• Repair and assess electrical issues as they arise

What You'll Need To Be Successful And Safe

• 5-10 years of maintenance mechanic experience, in the food industrial and/or bakery work environment preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required; Apprenticeship or applicable certifications preferred.
• Possess and demonstrate basic technical knowledge of some or all of the following
  • Stainless Steel Welding/Fabrication
  • Experience in high-speed packaging, welding, refrigeration (ammonia) and mechanical power transmission
  • Experience with and ability to use all types of welding, cutting, machine, and hand tools
  • PLC’s (Programmable logic controllers) – a plus
