About Us: SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, SWD Inc. is a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, with over 200 employees working three shifts in its 250,000 sq. ft. facility near Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We're Seeking: SWD Inc. is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician Lead for the 2nd shift (3pm-11pm), starting at $20.00/hr-$40.00/hr, based on experience. The role involves performing all duties of a Maintenance Technician and leading the maintenance team during the shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team on the shift
  • Log and track maintenance tasks in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Oversee work order progress and ensure timely completion
  • Troubleshoot minor electrical issues
  • Detect machine malfunctions through unusual sounds
  • Install piping systems (PVC, stainless steel, iron)
  • Install machinery and equipment as per specifications
  • Repair and maintain pumps (centrifugal and pneumatic)
  • Weld metal parts using TIG or arc welding techniques
  • Fabricate or modify equipment using hand tools
  • Follow all safety rules and company policies, including quality and environmental standards

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification in maintenance or 2+ years of maintenance experience
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Experience with manufacturing and forklift operation
  • Leadership skills and effective communication
  • Availability for occasional weekend work for quarterly maintenance
