Job summary

Elgin Sweeper in Elgin, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues and assist with repairs on mechanical and PLC-controlled equipment. You will ensure safety procedures, operate with 5S standards, and support production teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years’ maintenance experience or an Associate degree with related experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and operate an overhead crane.
• Forklift certification required.
• Able to read, write and speak English.
• Understands 480 wiring, electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and control systems.
• Proficient with hand tools and basic PC/testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks including inspection, lubrication, adjustment, cleaning and parts replacement.
• Replace common wear components and assist experienced technicians with repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues with supervision.
• Assist diagnostics and communicate findings to maintenance personnel.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and production support requests.
• Identify abnormal equipment conditions and report them.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO, machine guarding and PPE.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and support 5S standards.
• Complete work orders and document work performed and parts used.
• Collaborate with maintenance team and other departments on improvements.
