Job summary

RR Donnelley is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Industrial Maintenance Technician for the night shift in Newark, DE. Responsibilities include keeping production equipment running, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, and performing preventive maintenance on a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

You will work a 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM schedule with weekend shutdown maintenance, some overtime, and a $1.25 shift differential. Requires 3–5 years of related experience and strong tech literacy.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years related electro-mechanical experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial mechanical and electrical systems and I/O.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics/blueprints.
  • Strong computer literacy: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook; inventory/manufacturing/order systems experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations/requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Production Support: respond to maintenance requests on the production floor to maximize output and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: diagnose mechanical, electrical, network and computer hardware/software issues and perform timely repairs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: inspect machinery daily, document problems, schedule and perform PM activities.
  • Administrative: manage inventory of parts, record activities, train new technicians.
  • Housekeeping/Other: keep work areas clean and assist with general duties.

Job description

Provide maintenance support and repairs to production machinery, computer systems and facility for a 24hr / 7 day manufacturing operation.

Electro-Mechanical Industrial Maintenance Technician 3 - Night Shift
Shift Hours

7:30PM - 6:00AM - Weekends are required for shutdown maintenance. Some overtime and holiday work may be required, as dictated by business needs.

Hourly Pay Rate

$30.00 - $40.00 DOE with Shift Differential of $1.25 per hour

Key Duties / Responsibilities
  • Production Support (15%): Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests on the production floor. Train production technicians in the proper set‑up and copy troubleshooting techniques. Provide training and assistance to production technicians as needed to help maximize production output and minimize downtime through the utilization of proper production techniques and handling practices.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs (35%): Effectively diagnose mechanical, electrical, network, and computer hardware/software in assigned area (facility, machinery, equipment, etc.) Make timely and accurate repairs, as necessary, during production Utilize illustrated parts breakdown manuals and operational manuals in the repair, modification and maintenance of equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance (35%): Inspect machinery for potential problems on a daily basis. Documents problems and schedules work/repairs as appropriate. Respond to all assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner. Responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM) activities in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan. These activities will be recorded using proper PM sheets.
  • Administrative (10%): Perform inventory control of parts and equipment used from inventory. Inform Supervisor of parts and equipment used from inventory. Record maintenance activities using the proper computer application or paperwork. Provide training and coaching to new maintenance technicians and inspects their work.
  • Housekeeping/Other (5%): Perform housekeeping duties required of maintenance staff including work area clean‑up, machine and equipment clean‑up, sweeping up after clean‑up and various other general housekeeping duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Knowledge
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree, technical certification, or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language.
  • Powered Industrial Truck Certification preferred
Experience / Skills / Abilities
  • 3-5 years related electro-mechanical experience
  • Extensive hands on experience and detailed knowledge of: Industrial mechanical and electrical machines and systems Computers hardware and software, specifically industrial controls and related I/O's
  • Able to identify and perform Level A, B, & C equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Able to diagnose equipment faults and malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations/requirements.
  • Able to read and understand schematics/blueprints.
  • Strong Computer literacy: Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet software. Ideal candidates will have experience with Inventory Software, Manufacturing Software, and Order Processing systems.
  • Must demonstrate good time management skills.
  • Plans and organizes daily work flow.
  • Ability to retain knowledge of procedures and processes and understand complex instructions and multi-step procedures.
  • Willingness to attend training classes to learn or enhance skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to organize work, people and materials.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports.
  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate area, circumference, volume, etc.
  • Service-oriented personality.
  • Ability to work independently on nights and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating work schedule with call-in and overtime duties.

Communication & Contacts (Internal/External)

Informs leaders and other technicians of pertinent information and communicates to Plant personnel, leadership and other departments as necessary. Communicates with equipment operators to determine problems with equipment before breakdown and to determine if equipment adjustments or repairs are necessary. Communicates with outside vendors and various suppliers, service and maintenance providers.

Decision Making Scope

Often must make decisions in conjunction with department supervisors to shut down equipment, schedule repairs, request for service.
