Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a hands-on Maintenance position in California. The role covers building and grounds maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and related tasks across facility items.

You will investigate, repair and maintain solar equipment and facility items, perform machining and layouts, and use tools including torches for soldering and cutting. A high school diploma and 1 year of maintenance experience are required, with various trades experience valued.

Qualifications

• 1 year of maintenance experience is required.
• Experience with building maintenance is a plus.
• Drywall and carpentry experience is desirable.
• Certification in skilled trades or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years related experience with mechanical, plumbing, and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, determine, and perform maintenance and repairs on Solar equipment and facility items. Perform preventative maintenance on required facility equipment.
• Perform machining operations and bench work, as well as layouts and sketches for tasks.
• Use tools including acetylene and oxygen torches for soldering, brazing and torch cutting for repairs, plumbing or heating.
• Troubleshoot and repair low voltage control circuits (110V AC and 24V DC) with volt-ohm meters or similar instruments.

About the Role:

Perform the duties required by the maintenance department as assigned such as Building and Grounds Maintenance, HVAC Systems, Plumbing/Pipefitting, Mechanical Systems, Overhead Lift Systems, Rigging, Fabrication, Carpentry, Hydraulics, Painting, Oiling, Machine/Equipment Maintenance & Repair.

What You Will Do:

• Investigate, determine, and perform all maintenance and repairs required on all Solar equipment and facility items. Construct, devise, alter, and modify new facilities and devices as assigned. Perform preventative maintenance on required facility equipment.
• Perform machining operations and bench work as well as layouts and sketches as required to carry out the duties as described.
• Use necessary tools and equipment to accomplish assigned tasks, including acetylene and oxygen torches for the purpose of silver soldering, brazing and torch cutting for the purpose of repairs, plumbing or heating of shafts, hubs or bearings related to facility items as required in the performance of, assigned tasks.
• In addition, mechanics may use a volt ohmmeter or other instruments as required to troubleshoot and repair low voltage control circuits, such as 110-volt AC and 24-volt DC within a unit up to the transformer. Other assigned tasks by leadership.

What You Have:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 1 year of maintenance experience
• Hand tools and Power Tools

• Minimum of 3 years related experience with mechanical, plumbing, and building systems.

Comp Range:

$22.00- 39.40
