Qualifications

  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance or facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Experience with PLCs, automation systems, robotics, sensors, and industrial controls preferred.
  • Licensed or Certified Electrician strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using schematics, meters, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform maintenance on motors, motor controls, starters, relays, VFDs, and electrical panels.
  • Support wiring, lighting, and distribution systems; assist with upgrades and projects.
  • Ensure safety, compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.

At Cadence, we're advancing what's possible in medical device manufacturing, and we're looking for a skilled and dependable Facility Maintenance Technician III to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of our facility systems and manufacturing infrastructure.

This on-site role in Staunton, VA places a strong emphasis on industrial electrical maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, controls systems, and facility support. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience working with industrial electrical systems, machinery, and facility equipment within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate is safety‑conscious, technically skilled, and capable of independently diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical issues that impact facility operations and production. Your expertise will help ensure maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment while supporting the manufacture of life‑changing medical devices.

Key Responsibilities
Industrial Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and facility equipment
  • Diagnose electrical faults using schematics, meters, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on motors, motor controls, starters, relays, VFDs, electrical panels, and distribution systems
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC‑controlled equipment, automation systems, and production support equipment
  • Install, modify, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, lighting systems, and facility power systems
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, electrical projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems and manufacturing support equipment
  • Identify and address potential equipment failures before they impact operations
  • Complete work orders and maintenance activities in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and documentation
HVAC, Mechanical & Facility Systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC equipment and building support systems
  • Support maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and facility infrastructure
  • Assist in maintaining compressed air, utility, and other critical facility systems
  • Support repairs and installations to ensure efficient and reliable operation
Equipment Maintenance & Installation
  • Inspect, service, and maintain facility and manufacturing support equipment
  • Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and systems
  • Diagnose operational issues and implement effective corrective actions
  • Respond promptly to equipment downtime and emergency repair situations
Building & Grounds Maintenance
  • Perform general facility maintenance as required, including minor carpentry, painting, and repairs
  • Support exterior maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal activities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional indoor and outdoor work environments
Safety & Compliance
  • Conduct safety inspections and proactively address identified hazards
  • Follow OSHA requirements, electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and electronic waste
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Support a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance, industrial electrical maintenance, or facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and equipment
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Industrial electrical systems
    • Motors and motor controls
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • VFDs and control circuits
    • HVAC and facility support systems
    • Mechanical and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed or Certified Electrician strongly preferred
  • Mechatronics degree, Mechatronics Technology certification, or related technical degree preferred
  • Completion of the Virginia Maintenance Apprenticeship Program, Virginia State Apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial maintenance apprenticeship preferred
  • Experience with PLCs, automation systems, robotics, sensors, and industrial controls preferred
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment preferred
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using CMMS or computerized maintenance management systems preferred
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and maintenance software applications
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required to operate tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to safely work around energized and industrial equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access equipment in confined areas as required
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in a manufacturing environment

Consistent with Cadence's career architecture, this position may be staffed at varying experience levels. Criteria evaluated when determining level and compensation is based on experience, skills, and other job‑related factors.

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday from 3:00-11:00pm. This shift includes a 7% shift differential.

40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime throughout the year.
