The Opportunity

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative, remedial and routine maintenance tasks related to plant production and facilities equipment. This role involves directing employees and maintenance tasks at our Greensboro plant. Candidates should have skills in pipe fitting and welding. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welding Stainless Steel (flanges, stub ends, couplings, joints, etc.)
  • Welding Carbon Steel (flanges, stub ends, couplings, joints, etc.)
  • Scoping projects
  • Taking accurate measurements for new installations and repairs
  • Ordering materials
  • Reading P&ID diagrams
  • Equipment rigging
  • Maintaining plant maintenance areas and equipment, promoting cleanliness and efficiency
  • Performing work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments as per schedules and requests
  • Participating in safety and quality meetings, providing maintenance reports and safety evaluations
  • Completing daily work assignments, documentation, and checklists following safety guidelines
  • Leading and assisting in fabrication, modification, and implementation of equipment and machinery
  • Reviewing equipment operation and troubleshooting issues
  • Using and maintaining PPE properly
  • Training and mentoring entry-level maintenance personnel
  • Participating in other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical trade certification preferred
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and apply operational documents, SOPs, manifests, and bills of lading; basic math skills; problem-solving abilities
  • Skilled in MIG, TIG, and Aluminum welding
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficient in electric arc and acetylene welding on various equipment
  • Experience with pipe, tanks, machine parts, and metal structures
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste handling
  • Strong mathematical, computer, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines
  • Current tow motor/forklift license or certification
  • Ability to complete tasks timely and demonstrate decision-making and project management skills
Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing. Occasional sitting, using hands, reaching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Exposure to moving parts, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and elevated noise levels.
